Nucor has raised the price of hot-rolled coils to $1,210 per tonne

The American steel producer Nucor has once again raised its spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coils by $10 per short tonne compared with the previous week. This is stated in the company’s letter to customers dated 21 September.

The new offer price stands at $1,210 per tonne. The CSP for the California Steel Industries (CSI) joint venture has also risen by $10 per short tonne to $1,270 per tonne.

According to the company’s statement, order fulfilment times remain unchanged at 3–5 weeks.

Nucor expects significant earnings growth in the third quarter of this year in its steel mills segment, thanks to higher selling prices and stable sales volumes, as stated in the earnings forecast published on 17 September.

According to Steel Market Update, the average price of hot-rolled coils in the United States stood at $1,240 per short tonne as at 15 September.

Kallanish’s estimate as at 18 September stood at $1,200–1,210 per short tonne. In the corresponding week of 2025, spot prices for hot-rolled coils in the US ranged from $825 to $865 per tonne.

It should be noted that ArcelorMittal has raised prices for hot-rolled coil (HRC) in Europe by €20/t ($23/t) for deliveries in November 2026. This is due to rising costs of raw materials and energy. The increase is also driven by the stable order books of European steelworks and reduced competition from importers.
