Nucor has once again raised the price of hot-rolled coils by $10/t

The American steel producer Nucor has once again raised its spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coils by $10 per short tonne compared with the previous week. This is stated in the company’s letter to customers dated 28 September.

The new offer price stands at $1,220 per tonne. The CSP for the California Steel Industries (CSI) joint venture has also risen by $10 per short tonne to $1,280 per tonne.

According to the company’s statement, order lead times remain at three to five weeks, as before.

On 8 September, the steel producer announced a CSP for this product at $1,190/t and has since gradually increased it by $10/t every week.

According to Steel Market Update estimates, the average price of hot-rolled coils in the United States as at 22 September was approaching $1,300 per short tonne against the backdrop of a persistent shortage in the spot market.

On 25 September, Kallanish estimated the price of domestically produced HRC in the US at $1,210–1,220 per short tonne; in the corresponding week of 2025, spot prices for this product ranged from $825 to $865 per short tonne.

It should be noted that the global market for hot-rolled coils in September 2026 showed mixed trends. In the United States, prices rose steadily due to limited spot supply and longer lead times. European producers were determined to raise prices, whilst in China the expected seasonal upturn remained uncertain.
