US' steel slab imports drop in Jun m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the United States Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported roughly 319,000 tons of steel slabs in June, dropping by 35.5% from the previous month and 50% yearly.
The import value was around US$214 million, compared with US$339 million in May and US$532 million in the same month a year ago.
The US imported the most steel slabs from Brazil, totaling around 227,000 tons, compared with 367,000 tons in May and 322,000 tons in June 2023. Other major sources included Mexico with about 46,700 tons, Canada with about 38,500 tons, and Japan with nearly 7,000 tons.
