Tokyo Steel is raising its prices for steel products by $19/t for sales in November

Tokyo Steel, a leading Japanese electric arc furnace steel producer, has raised its prices for hot-rolled coils, rebar and I-beams by 3,000 yen/t ($19/t) for November sales.

Specifically, the new offer for HRC (1.7–22 mm) is $670/t, and for rebar (D13–25) – $606/t.

Despite weak buyer interest, rising production costs – particularly for energy – and expectations regarding seasonal demand are supporting flat steel prices in the country. As for prices of rebar and I-beams, a revival in construction activity is anticipated, driven by progress in the implementation of large-scale projects to build data centres and semiconductor manufacturing plants, scheduled for late 2026 and 2027. However, this recovery in activity within the sector is currently gradual.

As a reminder, Formosa has raised prices for hot-rolled coils for winter deliveries. Vietnamese producers are facing high costs this autumn, whilst domestic demand for steel has improved

As reported by GMK Center, the global hot-rolled coil market showed mixed trends in September 2026. In the US, prices rose steadily due to limited spot supply and longer lead times. European producers are determined to raise prices, whilst in China the expected seasonal upturn remained  in doubt.
