Baosteel raises tinplate list prices for July sales

Baoshan Iron & Steel Co (Baosteel), the listed arm of the world’s top steelmaker China Baowu Steel Group, is raising its list prices for electrolytic tinplate (ETP) by Yuan 220/tonne ($32.5/t) for domestic sales in July, while keeping those for electrolytic chromium coated steel or tin free steel (TFS) unchanged for next month, according to the company’s latest pricing announcement issued on June 3.

The announcement is released at the beginning of each month, separate from the pricing adjustment for major flat steel products like HRC, CRC and electrical steel, Mysteel Global noted.

The latest policy marks the fifth rise for its tinplate list prices since January this year and is mainly to counter the surging price of tin, Baosteel explained in the release.

The tin mill products are mainly produced at its Baoshan, Meishan and Qingshan works, Mysteel Global noted.
