Nucor Raises HRC CSP $10 to $1,280/Short Ton
Nucor raised its weekly Consumer Spot Price for hot-rolled coil by $10 per short ton to $1,280/st for the week beginning November 2, while California Steel Industries increased its HRC CSP to $1,350/st.
- Nucor HRC CSP: $1,280 per short ton, up $10/st week over week.
- CSI HRC CSP: $1,350/st, also up $10/st.
- Spot-order lead times remain at three to five weeks.
- The November 2 announcement marked Nucor's fifteenth consecutive weekly CSP increase.
- GMK Center, citing Kallanish, reported U.S. domestic HRC at $1,300–1,340/st on October 30.
Nucor increased its announced Consumer Spot Price, or CSP, for hot-rolled coil by $10 per short ton compared with the previous week, setting the new level at $1,280/st, according to a November 2 customer letter.
California Steel Industries, Nucor's West Coast joint venture, also increased its HRC CSP by $10/st to $1,350/st.
Reported lead times for spot orders remain unchanged at three to five weeks.
SteelPrices price-basis note: Nucor's $1,280/st and CSI's $1,350/st figures are producer-announced Consumer Spot Prices quoted per U.S. short ton. They are not independent market assessments or confirmation that all U.S. HRC transactions are occurring at those levels.
Nucor Extends Its Weekly CSP Increases
The November 2 announcement marked Nucor's fifteenth consecutive weekly CSP increase, according to the source report.
The latest adjustment follows the company's October 26 CSP increase to $1,270/st. California Steel Industries had been quoted at $1,340/st for that week.
Nucor's announced HRC CSP has therefore increased by $10/st week over week, while CSI's CSP also increased by $10/st.
Market Assessments Remain Above Nucor's CSP
GMK Center, citing Kallanish, reported domestic U.S. HRC at $1,300–1,340 per short ton as of October 30.
That range sits above Nucor's newly announced $1,280/st CSP, although the two figures represent different pricing bases: Nucor's figure is a producer-announced price, while the Kallanish range is a market assessment.
For comparison, GMK Center reported that Kallanish had placed U.S. HRC spot prices at $825–865/st during the corresponding week of 2025.
Steel Market Update's October 27 weekly assessment showed U.S. HRC averaging $1,305/st, up $15/st from the previous week.
The latest data show Nucor continuing to raise its announced CSP while independent U.S. HRC assessments remain near or above the producer's latest level.
15 Consecutive Weeks of Nucor HRC CSP Increases
Nucor's latest $10/st increase extends a run of fifteen consecutive weekly increases in its announced hot-rolled coil Consumer Spot Price.
- Nucor HRC CSP: $1,280/st
- Weekly move: +$10/st
- CSI HRC CSP: $1,350/st
- Lead times: 3–5 weeks
- SMU Oct. 27 HRC average: $1,305/st
The streak is significant because it shows the persistence of Nucor's weekly pricing campaign. But the announced CSP should not be treated as a market-wide transaction price.
SteelPrices will continue tracking the relationship between mill announcements, independent market assessments, lead times and actual U.S. HRC market pricing.
Buyers Expect Further HRC Price Increases
Steel Market Update's latest Flat-Rolled Steel Survey found that buyers increasingly expect HRC prices to continue rising through the end of 2026 and beyond.
SMU reported that foreign suppliers were continuing to offer competitive prices, while many service centers were still purchasing imported material to secure additional tonnage.
As of October 27, SMU reported U.S. HRC spot prices averaging $1,305/st.
Previous market reporting also pointed to limited domestic spot availability during October. GMK Center linked the broader increase in U.S. steel prices partly to reduced import competition following higher U.S. trade barriers.
