WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of February 2026, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,395,507 net tons, a 5.1 percent increase from the 7,035,936 net tons shipped in February 2025. Shipments were down 2.5 percent from the 7,583,826 net tons shipped in the previous month, January 2026. Shipments year-to-date in 2026 are 14,979,333 net tons, up 3.5 percent vs. 2025 shipments of 14,471,991 net tons for two months.
A comparison of shipments year-to-date in 2026 to the first two months of 2025 shows the following changes: corrosion resistant sheet and strip, up 10 percent, hot rolled sheet and strip, up 9 percent and cold rolled sheet and strip, down 8 percent.
